Betty Lorraine House

Betty Lorraine House of Pleasant Hill, California passed away at her home with her beloved husband, Richard by her side. Betty was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1952, and was an active alumnus for 65 years. She started teaching right after graduation in Molalla, Oregon. She married in Portland August 1955, and moved to California. She had two children, Sonja and Eric Seaholm. The family resided in Petaluma, California where Betty taught business, office machines and shorthand at Petaluma High School from 1963 to 1986. She was an outstanding teacher and mentor-always supportive of students and staff. Betty was musically trained and had a beautiful soprano voice. She loved many types of music and especially loved singing. While residing in Petaluma, Betty was a member of the choirs at the First Presbyterian Church and then the United Church of Christ where she was one of the main soloists. She also enjoyed singing and performing with the Harmoneers and Harmonettes. Betty moved to Pleasant Hill, California and married the love of her life, Richard House in 1982 where they resided until her passing. Betty and Richard enjoyed travelling, hiking, fishing and sporting events. After Betty retired from teaching, she and Richard literally travelled the world, and they travelled all over the United States and Canada in their Sportsmobile Van, including several trips to Alaska. Betty also loved to cook and share special meals with family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Elva Lacy, of Salem, Oregon. Betty is survived by her husband, Richard House, daughter Sonja Scott (Robert) of Gig Harbor, Washington, son, Eric Seaholm (Claudia) of Springfield, Oregon. Betty was a fun and loving grandmother and is survived by five grandchildren: Clare Hansen (Scott Leach), Ann Hansen (Patrick Jones), Melanie Seaholm (Ryan Helms), Michelle Seaholm (Tim Randolph) and Kyle Seaholm. Betty has two great grandchildren, Lorn and Etti Ann Hansen Leach. She will forever be in our hearts. God hath not promised skies always blue Flower-strewn pathways all our lives though.
