Janice Kay Maher

Janice Kay Maher September 29, 1940 - July 31, 2026 Janice K. Maher passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, following a long and courageous battle. Janice was born on September 29, 1940, in Eldon, Missouri. She shared a loving marriage of 68 years with her devoted husband, Malcolm, and together they built a family centered on faith, love, compassion, and service to others. For many years, Janice dedicated her life to caring for others as a hospice volunteer, providing comfort and dignity to countless patients and their families during life’s most difficult moments. She was actively involved with the Lilac Branch of Children’s Hospital and spent decades volunteering in her community. A faithful member of Castlewood Baptist Church in Vallejo for more than 60 years, Janice lived her faith through service, kindness, and generosity. Janice found her greatest joy in her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and especially cherished being a grandmother. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, and exceptional cook whose home was always filled with warmth, love, and hospitality. Janice is lovingly survived by her husband, Malcolm Maher; her children, Michael Maher his wife, Ellie, Kim Johnson her husband Erik, Greg Maher his wife, Julie, her daughter-in-law, Lori Maher; her grandchildren, Travis, Mariah, Jerika, Chase, Noah, Annika, Erika, her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Maeve, Michael, Rhett, Rose and Malcolm. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Letha Dyer, son, Steven Maher; grandson, Ryan Maher; sister, Donna Neth; brother-in-law, Jerry Neth; niece, Vicki Neth; and nephew, Mark Neth. Janice will be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, gentle spirit, generosity, and the unconditional love she shared with her family, friends, neighbors, church, and all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Castlewood Baptist Church, 3615 Georgia Street, Vallejo, California.
