Margaret Delores DeGrazia

Margaret DeGrazia, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Vallejo on March 23, 2012. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and lived in the Benicia/Vallejo area for the past 50 years. She currently resided in Vallejo but raised her children in Benicia. She was the mother of 10 children, 30 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was fun loving and got tremendous joy out of other people's happiness. As a young woman, she worked in a cannery & was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. In later years she was a secretary for her husband's plumbing business. She loved to sew and was a talented seamstress who made each of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She loved to gamble and hosted poker night at her house every Wednesday evening. She enjoyed family barbecues, reading, music, and dancing. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Dominic Church for over 50 years. Margaret is survived by her husband, Charles DeGrazia of Vallejo; her children, Mark Beiley of Florida, Leif Beiley of Costa Mesa, Lynne Speickerman of Sonoma, Jeff Sherman(Judi) of Manteca, Eileen McDonald (Charles) of Vallejo, Patrick Sherman (Cindy) of Benicia, Mary David (Rick) of Benicia, & Eliza Best of Benicia; her step children, Teresa Costello & Kenny McDonald; her grandchildren, Charles, Liz, Victoria, Steven, Francesca, Lyle, Lauren, Ricky, Anthony David, Angel, Fionna, Ilene, Anthony Sherman, Jonathan, Layla, Margo, Rachel, Ryan Costello, Robyn, Jade, Jasmine, John, Tamara, Adam, Kathleen, Mark & Ryan Beiley; her great-grandchildren, Charles, C.J., Dylan McDonald, Izak, Cassandra, Dylan Sherman, Molly, Isaiah, Tayler, Brooklyn, Ava, Savanaha, Marilyn, & Joseph; and her sister, Della Elliot, of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Margo Compton (1978); her son, John Sherman (2010); & her grandchildren, Sylvia, Sandra (1978), & Graham (1983), & her Great-Grandchild: Tyler (2002) A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29th, at St. Dominic Church in Benicia. Mass of Chrsitain Burial will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 12:00 Noon also at St. Dominic Church, 475 East I Street., with Fr. John Marie Officiating & Fr. Vic Co-celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel from 12:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Family prefers donations to St. Dominic’s Church or School.
