Richard Allan Bennallack

“On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open, and the world is full of beauty. Today is such a day.” Rumi Richard Allan Bennallack unexpectedly and suddenly passed on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Richard was born in San Francisco on January 27, 1950. Richard, is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn Morrison-Bennallack. Married for 29 years. His wonderful and devoted daughters, Tressa Sadler, and Dara Schultz both residents of Washington State. His three grandchildren that he adored, Avary Sadler, 18, years old, Landon Sadler, 14 years old, and Olyn Bennallack Schultz, 10 years old, and his lovely niece Kim Bryant who resides in Redding, CA. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Howard and Agnes Bennallack, and his late brother Robert Bennallack. As a youth, he attended St Gabriel School, and graduated Lincoln High School in San Francisco. He attended college at San Francisco Community College and Diablo Valley College. Richard was President and CEO of American Packing and Rubber located in Benicia, CA. He recently celebrated his 50th work anniversary. Richard was an avid and dedicated sailor. He started in Sea Scouts, BSA, at the age of 14 at the San Francisco Sea Scout Base. He continued to volunteer his time and expertise for many years, serving at one point as Commodore of the Sea Scout Base. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award given to those have perform community service through hard work, and self-sacrifice. It is given to those who do not seek it. He was a life time sailor who loved to race on the San Francisco Bay, and ocean. He spent many weekends racing in regattas, his favorite race being the Big Boat Series held at the St. Francis Yacht club every September. He crewed on numerous boats over the years, and made many close relationships. He will be missed by many. Richard was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Parish in Walnut Creek, where he taught 6th grade religious education. His hobbies included dancing, traveling abroad with his wife. Spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He worked out every morning in the local gym, he enjoyed bonding with his workout buddies. He loved taking his fur babies to the dog park every day, spending time with his dog park friends. Richard was always ready with a story, his quick wit and sense of humor is what endeared him to friends and family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Parish, 2039 Mt.
