Rosemary E. Estrella

Rose Mary Elizabeth Catherine was born in Ontario, Canada to William and Rose Etta Murphy, the third of six siblings. After finishing school, she and sister Marie spirited westward, working different jobs and looking for adventure traveling through several Provinces and Territories. In Banff National Park, they waited tables (for a day), until one of them dropped a tray and off they went to their next destination covering the Canadian Countryside. Landing and working in Vancouver B.C. they decided on a lark to take the ferry to Victoria B.C. to explore life on the island. Falling in love with life on the island they both landed jobs and Rose flourished and eventually was offered a position as an executive secretary with the British Columbia Buildings Corporation. Her boss was an investor in a cruise ship and offered them passage on the Cruise Ship the Prince George, considering them like family. She and Marie set sail on the Prince George traveling through Alaska. Onboard, Rose met a Californian moonlighting as a barkeeper and captain of the ship until she blew his cover. They enjoyed the rest of the cruise in each other's company, and then upon reaching their destination port, Rose went back to Victoria and Bob to California. It wasn't long before Rose was visiting California and then Bob to Victoria. Seven months later they decided to marry. After marrying in a family wedding in April 1984, Rose and Bob lived on Risdon Road, near Bob's family. In 1992 they moved to Benicia with son's Michael and Ryan. where Rose worked as a Campus Supervisor at the Middle School and Bob as a Manager for a public transportation agency in Oakland. Her spirited humor, warmth, and genuine interest and care reflected in the pleasure she took spending time with a wide group of friends, especially touring in the Diablo A's Car Club with their 1931 town sedan. Rose is survived by her adoring husband, Robert, and sons Michael (Amy) and Ryan Estrella. By the Murphy clan, she is represented by sisters Marie Harbour (Dennis), and Ann Murphy of British Columbia, Doug Murphy (Heather) Ontario, Canada, and was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tom Murphy and Mark Murphy brother-in-law Conrad Estrella. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 19th at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church 11: 00 a.m. With a gathering after.
