Annie Lee Turner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Annie Lee Turner was born in Austin, Texas June 28, 1941 to Clyde Ates and Mary. Mary met and married Peter Williams and together, they loved and raised Annie Lee. During the latter part of her adolescent years, Annie Lee lived with her uncle and aunt, L. V. and Blanche Ates. Annie Lee met and began a courtship with Charles E. Allen. Shortly thereafter, Annie Lee’s family migrated to California and she and Charles began a long distance relationship. As love had everything to do with it, Charles relocated to California and the two were married. This union produced four children, Kevin, Kraig, Kimberly and Karla. Later in life, Annie Lee married Richmond Turner Jr. The couple was married for 46 years and lived in Benicia, CA. for over thirty years. Richmond preceded her in earthly transition. Annie Lee graduated from Polytechnic High School in San Francisco, CA. and attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. Annie Lee was intelligent, well organized, resourceful and gifted. Graced with stellar interpersonal skills, Annie Lee had successful careers in Human Resource Management, Retail Contract Sales, and Public Transportation, just to name a few. Annie Lee was quite the entrepreneur, in fact, we believe she invented the “side hustle” as she always had multiple streams of income. She was innovative, forward thinking and marched to the beat of her own, distinct drum. With elegance, style and poise, she powerfully chose to dream and live beyond societal, man-made limitations and restrictions. She always believed she could, therefore; she most certainly did. Annie Lee’s heart for others was evidenced by her ongoing contributions to various international and domestic organizations and programs. In 1991, her heart for missions allowed her to journey to Acra, Ghana where she served and ministered. She always encouraged her family to remain involved in missions outreach efforts both here and abroad. Annie Lee was a staunch advocate for those who were voiceless, neglected, mistreated and marginalized. In her presence, one was seen, heard, embraced and loved unconditionally. She would ALWAYS have an encouraging, comforting and “get back up again” word for anyone who was ready to quit. On March 1, 2022, Annie Lee (80) transitioned peacefully in her sleep…as she desired. She was surrounded in person and via Facetime by Kevin, Kraig, Kimberly, Karla, Teddy and Genesis. Annie Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Mary, Peter (Dad), & Clyde, her spouse Richmond Turner Jr., her infant sister Ilene, her sister Barbara and brothers Curtis and Willie. She leaves to honor and cherish her essence, her former spouse and longtime friend Charles, her children Kevin, Kraig, Kimberly, Karla, grafted in daughters, Denise, Patricia, Regina, Antonia (Maverick), her brothers Jerone (Cynthia) and Peter (Jean), sister Charlesetta (Leroy), brothers Frank, Malcolm and Clyde, sister-in-laws Lana Benjamin and Elizabeth Brown, grandchildren, Teddy (Genesis), Lauren, Ryan (Xavia), Rashad, Jillian, Brittany, Cynammon, Christian, CJ and Cornell, great-grandchildren, Ellah, Livee, Ivy, Julian, Jaylen, Bryce, Ryann, Za’Nia, Zaryah, Blayke and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, relatives, friends and her beloved Cityscape Church family.
