Bill Gianulis
September 5, 1954 - February 8, 2022
Master artist and friend to all, Bill Gianulis died on February 8, 2022, after fighting a hard battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill had a lifelong career as a creative artist, including works in painting, public sculpture, furniture design, clothing design, performance art, and other mediums. His most famous works were the buffalo sculptures on Denver’s 16th Street Mall and the Swiggles playground in Arvada, CO. In Benicia, he was heavily involved with the arts community and he had his art displayed in several locations. He also painted several light boxes and the park bench near the library. More information on Bill’s artistic career along with examples of his work can be found at his website: www.giandesigns.com. He led a full, rich, and productive life with countless friends and family. He was creative in all aspects of his life and was also a great cook. He loved nothing more than to have a big group of family and friends over so he could cook big elaborate meals for them. Benicia had been his home for 7 years and he loved living here. In that time, he made many friends with his optimism and welcoming smile. He will always be remembered for his kindness. He loved the game of bocce and had become a star player in the league in the last few years. Bill is survived by his son, William Gianulis; his partner in life Susie Clark; and his siblings Barbara Gianulis and Brad Gianulis. His dog Yoshi and cats Athena and Aphrodite will also miss their Papa. Many thanks to cousins Andy Karozos, and Mary and Mark Naylor for their assistance and support in his last month of life. Bill was a beautiful soul and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. There will be a Zoom memorial in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospice East Bay, Arts Benicia, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
