Edward F. Lazarek Sr.

Edward F. Lazarek Sr., 83, passed away suddenly in a local hospital Tuesday evening. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and has called Benicia his home since 1969. He attended Rutgers University and served in the United States Army During World War II. Ed worked in the Insurance industry for 39 years. He retired in 1987 and dedicated the remaining years of his life to serving others. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to always show Christ to others. Ed and his late wife Dolores were longtime members of the Benicia community and served faithfully at St. Dominic's Church. Ed was ordained a Deacon in the church in June of 1988 and officiated at many weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Ed had an affectionate and genuine concern for the the well-being of all those he touched in life. His wit and charm were just a glimpse into the husband and father he was. He is survived by his sons Ed Jr., Paul (Debbie), Frank (Laura); daughters Barbara (Don) and Lori and his 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his loving Dolores, daughter Mary Tangeri, and his daughter-in-law Arlene. Vigil services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday both at St. Dominic's Church. Burial in St. Dominic's Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel Tuesday from 10-6. Family prefers donations to a scholarship in Ed's name, c/o St. Dominic's Church, 935 East 5th Street, Benicia, CA.
