Eileen Bach Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1924 to Peter Henry and Mary Ellen Gillespie Henry. Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday 6/30/12. Eileen attended Brooklyn College and Columbia University. Her beauty and charm led to Miss Subway, Miss Cinderella Cover Girl and Miss New York City 1946. She placed 5th in the 1946 Miss America pageant, winning the swimsuit competition. She married a basketball player and coach and enjoyed entertaining, traveling and ticker tape championship parades. Eileen was a radio actress and an early television hostess, touring with The Columbia Players and entertaining returning troops during WW II. Following a divorce after 45 years of marriage, she moved to Rossmoor where she enjoyed the organizations she joined, tours, trips and especially casino gambling. Eileen participated in volunteer activities throughout her life from Meals on Wheels deliveries in State College, PA to the Assistance League of Mt. Diablo Kids on the Block puppetry to Ministries to the Homebound with St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Rossmoor. Eileen adored her 5 children and loved raising them. She is survived by her children, John and wife Mimi Bach. Eileen Bach, Donna Bach, Brendan and wife Kelly Bach and Kieran and wife Melinda Bach. She loved her 10 precious grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Eileen will be remembered for her love of life, her laughter and smile and marvelous ability to tell a story. The family expresses gratitude to the amazing caregivers at Hospice of the East Bay. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 1600 Rossmoor Parkway, Walnut Creek on Friday July 6th at 10:30am followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you remember Eileen by donating to a charitable organization.
