Jeanette Frances Stewart
June 1, 1940 - March 5, 2022
Jeanette F. Stewart passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022 at the age of 81. Jeanette was born in Oregon June 1, 1940 and lovingly raised by her parents Jeanette and George Stewart in Berkeley with her younger brother Milton. She had many happy years at Walnut Creek Manor where she made many friends and had fun parties in the gazebos. She lived her final year at the Rose Cottage on Jeanette Drive in Pleasant Hill (I think she was meant to be there). As is typical of Jeanette, she made the best of any situation. She had her TV, Library of Congress Books on Tape, Alexa, and most importantly a phone to keep in touch with her many friends and acquaintances. She was a very happy, upbeat, positive person and the world needs more of that for sure. The world is a better place because she was in it. She used Meals on Wheels for a few years and they also had a service called Friendly Caller. So a nice person called Jeanette once a week to check in and chat. Jeanette realized she could return the favor and be a Friendly Caller to someone else. She got an application turned in and became a Friendly Caller to an older woman with little family or friends. She was very happy and proud of herself. The Meals on Wheels folks just loved her. They were to run an article about her in their April newsletter, which they will now dedicate to her memory. It will be posted at www.mowdiabloregion.org in early April. The Meals on Wheels person said the article "captures her vibrant personality". She loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone. She loved her collections - Beanie Babies, Wizard of Oz, Titanic and such. She loved singing and enjoyed singing Barbershop with the Diablo Vista Chapter of the Sweet Adelines in Walnut Creek and later the Berkeley Broadway Singers. She also loved jazz music, especially Tom Rigney and Flambeau. The Red Hat Society and the friends it brought to her changed her life for the better more than we can say. Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother Jeanette Stewart, her father George Stewart, her brother Milton Stewart and her sister-in-law Terri Kelly. She is survived by her son Scott, daughter-in-law Jenny, son Richard, son-in-law Mike, and daughter Jennifer. And four grandchildren that were the lights of her life - Anthony, Brian and the twins Grace and Teddy. She was a special person and will be missed by many. She loved the Wizard of Oz and Somewhere Over the Rainbow – think of her when you see a rainbow. As she was fond of saying of others: "She had a Good Run". And as the Golden Girls song goes - Thank you For Being a Friend! Donations can be made in her name to Meals on Wheels in Walnut Creek, CA.
