Jerry Lee Johnson
May 23, 1941 - November 5, 2021
Jerry Lee Johnson, long time resident of Benicia, CA born in Vallejo, CA passed away while doing what he loved the most, walking his two dachshund companions Benji and Poppy at the Benicia Marina. Jerry was affectionately called the “chairman of the board” for the eclectic coffee group who gathered at Java Point faithfully every morning for the last 15 years. Jerry always had treats in his pockets for any dog out for a walk, and they quickly greeted him. He owned and operated Mailboxes Etc. in Benicia with Joann Perkins for over twenty years. He was an avid drone enthusiast and shared spectacular footage of his adventures. Once he found something he was passionate about, he was all in. His home is full of multiple collections, one his favorites being Indian art. He loved anything showcasing the gifts of local artists. He was known for his quick sarcastic wit and his willingness to help anyone at any time. He touched the lives of many and he will be greatly missed. Jerry graduated from Vallejo High School in 1958 and was on the reunion committee. He always looked forward to connecting with old classmates. Jerry became a gifted electrician, a trade he practiced for over 40 years and most of his career was spent with Alhambra Electric. He is survived by his daughter, Arlene and her spouse, David Ruddy, along with their children (grandchildren) Jacob, Ethan, and Sara Ruddy, great-grandchildren from Sara are Ashton and Raelynn who all reside in Colorado and by his son, Mark Johnson and his spouse, Andrea Johnson, and their children (grandchildren) Annika, Niki and Britta Johnson who reside in Tahoe City, CA; and by his former wife Susan Boettcher of Colorado and Deborah Johnson of Benicia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Diana Johnson. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Benicia Veteran’s Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 4th at 1pm. We look forward to honoring him and sharing memories about Jerry. Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia. Please visit the online tribute at www.passsalacquafuneralchapel.com. The family prefers donations in Jerry’s name be made to the Salvation Army. “I’ve always been one who if you come to a fork in the road and you wonder where it goes, take it and find out; otherwise you may find yourself wondering where it went. The idea of going through life wondering “what if” has never appealed to me. I always look for new adventures and will never pass up a junction in the road to see where it leads.” ~ Jerry
