Judy Genevieve Davena

Our beloved Judy Davena unexpectedly passed away January 16, 2022. Judy was born and raised in Benicia, CA, attending Benicia High School, where she was head cheerleader and homecoming queen. Following graduation, Judy began her career in law enforcement as a dispatcher with Benicia Police Department. Judy transferred to Richmond Police Department and after nearly 35 years of service, retired as the dispatch supervisor. After retirement, Judy worked part-time at Lindsay Art Glass. She enjoyed being an ambassador for Benicia, often sharing her knowledge of its history and charm with customers. Judy was a lifelong member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Genevieve Davena, and brother-in-law Bob DeVault. Judy is survived by her brothers Bill, Ray and Ken (Teri) and sister Jean. She was a special aunt to nieces and nephews Rosemary (Taral), Linda (Reed), Robert (Mary), Rodger (Leticia), Brett (Jennifer) and Blake. She was a special great-aunt to Crystal, Sean, Sara, Tracy, Jack, Desmond, Sage, Eve, Duke, Ashley, Amber, Brooke, Celeste, Elias, Matteo, Emma and Evie and a growing number of great-great-nieces and -nephews. Family and friends were important to Judy. She remembered every birthday and special event with a personalized, thoughtful gift, phone call and brownies or banana bread. Judy was a devoted animal lover. She rescued several cats, including Leo, who survives her, and loved her Percy, Lucy, Scrappy, Mickey and Lucky. She doted on her dog-nephew Ernie and dog-niece Georgia, enjoying every opportunity to leave a red lipstick kiss on her white head. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
