Marvis E. Simonson
December 27, 1925 - September 15, 2016
Marvis E. Simonson passed away peacefully Thursday at her house following a short illness. She was born in Osawatomie, Kansas and spent several years in Yuba City before moving to Benicia in 1943. Marvis was a graduate of Benicia High school in 1944. As a young woman she worked at Yuba Manufacturing where she met the love of her life, George Simonson. They were married for fifty-two years prior to his death in 1997. She also worked for many years at Leonard's Tot Shop and as a receptionist at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo for 15 years. She also volunteered in the gift shop at the Good Day Cafe as well as her local polling place each election. Marvis was a loyal Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's fan and proudly displayed their flags on her car. She and George had season tickets for the Raiders for several years along with their close friends and enjoyed a good game and a good time to be sure! She was also a Nascar fan and Jeff Gordon was her favorite! Marvis was well known for her stylish attire, her high heels, and her pearls. Even when having coffee with the boys at the famous "Pastime Grudge". She is survived by her daughter Andrea (Bill) Himes; son Paul (Natalie) Simonson; brother John (Bernie) Werner; sister Pat (Bob) Eggert; granddaughter Nicole (Brett) Gilbert and her great grandchildren George, Gray & Bentley. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many, many wonderful friends. Special thanks to her most kind caregivers, Jocelyn "Joyce" Arsenal, Catalina "Cookie" Baca and Angelito "Lito" Walter. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30th at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Family prefers donations to the Vallejo Benicia Humana Society.
