William E. "Bill" Martin

William E. "Bill" Martin, 93, of Benicia passed away Sunday in a Redding hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Chico and lived in Benicia from the mid 40's until he moved to Stonyford in 1986. Bill owned a rock quarrry on Lake Herman Road for many years and also operated a back hoe. From the late 40's and into the 1960's he owned Benicia City Bus Lines. Bill loved fishing, deer hunting and dancing. Bill was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and will be remembered as a man with pride and dignity. He is survived by his children Richard "Rick" Martin and Janet (Ismael) Stansell; sisters Jackie Sue Cox, Regina Greer & Penny Thompson; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and his dog Harley. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn in 1984 and his grandson Cory Bush in 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Benicia Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
