Franlou Carone

Franlou Carone peacefully passed away in her home at 95 years old after a long battle with dementia surrounded by family. She was born on a farm in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota and moved to Omaha, Nebraska at fourteen where she graduated from Central High School in 1945. After graduating she worked as a secretary and was very proud of her short hand skills and typing speed. She worked a second job at night and on weekends as a box office cashier at a downtown cinema. This is where she met her husband Gaetano Carone, a native Californian. After a whirlwind romance they were married in 1947 and moved to Rodeo, California where they raised their son and daughter. As an avid dog lover since childhood, Franlou enjoyed the company or her dogs throughout her life. She would fondly remember her Boston Terrier Rowdy from her youth, and her children’s family dogs Frisky, GiGi, and Smiley. Family was one of the most important and central things in her life. She enjoyed throwing family birthday parties and dinners. Franlou was active all throughout her children’s lives and was a Cub Scout den mom, Girl Scout Leader, and dance recital mom. She was a dedicated and skillful bowler on a bowling league. Franlou enjoyed vacationing with the family to their cabins in Tahoe and Clearlake, was known for her fashion sense, and love of Cadillac cars. After the passing of her husband of 47 years, she went back to her business roots and continued ownership of their apartment/townhome complex as CEO for 15 years. Affectionately known as Nana by her five granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren, she enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with them and attending their school activities and sport events. She had a huge heart and anyone that knew her would know that she enjoyed a good conversation, even with strangers. Franlou is pre-deceased by her husband Gaetano Carone and son in law David Eyler. She is survived by her son, Thomas Carone, daughter, Shari Eyler; sister, Darla Heye; grandchildren, Angelina (Larry) Strickland, Randal Carone, Brianne (Brandon) Heidel, Kaylan Eyler, and Celine Eyler; eight great-grandchildren and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who all love and miss her dearly. A private grave site service will be held at Skyview Lawn Memorial in Vallejo where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
