Michael P. Devlin

Michael P. Devlin, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Vallejo, California, on April 28, 2026. He was born on May 25, 1939, in Northern Ireland, one of eleven children. Michael dedicated much of his life to his craft as a skilled carpenter. A proud member of Carpenters Union Local No. 22 since 1964, he was known as a master carpenter who took great pride in working with his hands. His commitment to excellence and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1965. Michael lived a full and vibrant life, embracing many passions. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling, and found great joy in swimming—teaching all of his grandchildren how to swim. Deeply connected to his Irish roots, he loved discussing Irish politics, listening to Irish music, and dancing the jig. He also had a lifelong appreciation for the arts, particularly acting and reading, and was proud to have been a supporting actor in the Irish play The Playboy of the Western World. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully cheered for the San Francisco 49ers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vilma Devlin; his children, Christina Madden, Michael Devlin,Siobhan (Shavon) Devlin, and Robert Devlin; his siblings, John Devlin, Gerald Devlin, Anne (John) McKinney, and Christina (Seamus) Quinn; his seven grandchildren, Dane Madden, Jazmin Dew, Devin Devlin, Khalila Dew, Gavin Devlin, Patrick Devlin, and Jack Devlin; and his great-grandchild, Remington Madden. He was preceded in death by several of his siblings. Family and friends are invited to attend vigil services on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic’s Church, followed by burial with military honors at St. Dominic’s Cemetery.
